Custom Push Notifications give you direct control over the message, timing, and destination of what your clients receive in the app.

Unlike system-generated notifications, these are fully authored by you.

1. Move Beyond System Alerts

Auto-generated notifications are triggered by activity and follow a fixed format.

Custom Notifications allow you to:

  • Write your own title

  • Control the message content

  • Decide what opens when tapped

Use this when the communication is strategic, not just event-based.

Instead of simply notifying clients that something happened, you can explain what to do next.

Use Custom Notifications to:

  • Reinforce meeting follow-ups

3. Control the Open Experience

You determine what happens when the client taps the notification:

Resource
Opens an in-app content page that can include written text, links, and images.

URL
Opens an external webpage.

This allows you to keep clients inside the app when appropriate, or direct them outward when needed.


4. Send With Intention

Custom Notifications are not automated.

You choose:

  • The recipients

  • The sender

  • The delivery timing

This makes them effective for segmented outreach and time-sensitive communication.


How to Create a Custom Push Notification

Step 1: Navigate to Custom Notifications

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Select Tools

  3. Click Custom Notification

  4. Click Add Notification

Step 2: Build the Notification

Notification Title

Enter a custom title. This appears in the push preview on the client’s device.


Choose What Happens When Opened

Select either:

Resources
Draft the content directly in the editor. When the client opens the notification, this content displays in-app. You may include formatted text, links, and images.

URL
Paste the full external link. When the client opens the notification, they will be directed to that webpage.


Step 3: Configure Delivery

On Behalf Of

Choose whether the notification appears from:

  • Self

  • Primary Advisor

Select Recipients

Choose the contacts or group that should receive it.

Delivery Timing

  • Send Now for immediate delivery

  • Schedule to select a future date and time

Confirm the correct time zone before saving.


Step 4: Save

Click Save.

The notification will send immediately or at the scheduled time you selected.
