Resource Template Overview
The Resource Template is one element of an Experience, which also includes a Card Template, and Featured Resource Template. It defines the library of content clients can access in their app, organized into Categories, Subcategories, and Resources.
Each Resource Template is fully customizable, letting you tailor content for different audiences like clients, prospects, or leads. Assigning the right Resource Template helps ensure each contact gets relevant, timely content.
While Resource Templates are part of Experiences, they can also be updated separately—either for individual contacts or in bulk. This gives you added control when you need to adjust content access without changing the full Experience setup.
Basic Steps to Build Your Resource Template
Upload your Resources to the Resource Library.
Upload a file, add a link, or embed a video.Go to Settings, Select Resource Templates, then click Add.
Create a Resource Template and give it a Name and Description.
Add a Category.
Create a new category and provide a title, description, and cover image.
Link the Resource to the Category.
Assign the resource to the relevant category for organized access.
Or link the Resource with a Sub Category.
Link the resource to the appropriate subcategory within the category.
What are Categories?
Categories act as the top-level organizational structure within the Resource Template. Advisors can create various categories to represent broad topics or themes relevant to their clients.
Examples: Financial Planning, Investment Strategies, Estate Planning, Retirement Resources, Client Onboarding.
What are Subcategories?
Within each Category, advisors can further organize content by creating Subcategories. This additional layer helps break down complex topics into more digestible sections.
Examples: Under Financial Planning, you might have Budgeting Tools and Tax Planning Resources.
What is a Resource?
Resources are the actual pieces of content or links clients will access. They can be PDFs, videos, or external links.
Examples: PDFs, videos explaining portfolio strategies, links to scheduling tools, or helpful articles on financial wellness.
Resource Types
Documents allow you to upload PDFs, Word documents, Excel sheets, and images for easy sharing and reference.
Links enable you to add external URLs, directing clients to relevant websites, tools, or articles for further information. An in-app browser will open, keeping your clients in your app even while accessing resources on the web.
Videos can be included either by uploading an mp4 file or by embedding the video directly into the resource, allowing clients to view it seamlessly within the app. You can create embed codes in your video hosting platform, like YouTube or Vimeo.

Important Note on Changing Resource Templates in an Experience
Updating the Resource Template within an Experience does not automatically update the template for contacts who were previously assigned that Experience.
Any changes you make will only apply to new Experience assignments moving forward.
If you want contacts who were already assigned the Experience to receive the updated Resource Template, you’ll need to update their Experience. This ensures they receive the latest version of the Resource Template.
Edit a Current Resource Template – Your Changes Cascade
When you update a Resource Template, those changes will now automatically cascade to all clients who have that template assigned. Any edits—such as reordering resources, adding new content, or removing outdated items—will be reflected in the app experience for all applicable clients in real time.
Go to Settings icon in the Top Menu.
Click Resource Templates.
Click Actions, then click Edit.
Link new Resources, Adjust Categories or make any other desired changes.
This change will cascade to all contacts with this Resource Template.
‼ Note: You can only view Resource Templates that you did not create. Only the original creator (owner) can edit a Resource Template.
Update Assigned Resource Templates in Bulk
Element Changes vs. Experience Reassignment
Element Changes (to Resource, Featured Resource, or Card Templates) automatically cascade to all clients assigned that Experience. These updates are seamless and maintain consistency without disrupting the client’s assigned Experience.
Reassigning or Removing an Experience is a significant action. It allows you to update any or all elements of the Experience — the Resource Template, Featured Resource Template, and Card Template. This can result in a full replacement of what the client sees, or simply a targeted update to one part of their experience.
⚠️ Before making changes, consider whether you just need to edit an individual element instead of changing the entire Experience. Updating elements is often the better choice when you’re not looking to completely reset a client’s experience.
Click Contacts in the Navigation Menu.
Click Bulk Actions.
Select Update Experience.
Use the search bar to find the desired contacts. To select in bulk, click the checkbox at the top of the list. You can also check individual boxes next to each contact as needed. Click Next Step.
Toggle on Do you want to update the Resource Template?
Use the dropdown menu to select your desired Resource Template.
Click Update.
The selected Resource Template will now be applied to all chosen contacts.
Assign a Resource Template to an Individual Contact
Click Contacts.
Select the desired contact.
Navigate to the Experience section on the Contact Summary Page.
Remove the existing Resource Template, if needed.
Use the dropdown to assign your desired Resource Template.
The new Resource Template will be applied in full to this individual contact.
Client View of In-App Resources
Clients access linked resources through their app, where resources appear organized by categories and subcategories. This intuitive structure makes it easy for clients to find and engage with the content relevant to their needs.
